During the event volunteers will work in different roles including:
Checkpoint Coordinators: Manage checkpoint operations and staff.
Information Officers: Provide assistance and information at the checkpoints to Support Crews on the whereabouts of their team.
Check In/Out Operators: Operate the computer system at the checkpoints to check in and check out participating teams.
Food and Beverage Coordinators: Maintain food and beverages at checkpoints for participants and volunteers.
Food & Beverage Assistants: Delivering meals to other volunteers along the trail.
General Checkpoint Aid: Assist at the checkpoints in a variety of roles as needed.
Event Runners and Assistants: Be on-call at the Control Centre to deliver or pick up gear and supplies to and from the checkpoints.
Drivers: Work with the operations team to deliver equipment to and from the checkpoints. Drivers must be over 25.
Parking Coordinator or Marshals: Direct staff, support crew and spectator cars to appropriate areas at checkpoints.
Finish Line Crew: Aside from handing out water and taking the participants timing chips, you will hand out medals and congratulate the participants as they cross the finish line.
Brochure Distribution: Take brochures to local businesses, communities, and establishments informing the public about the upcoming event.
Podiatrists: Support hikers that are suffering from sore feet, blisters, etc.
Massage Therapists: Provide massages for hikers at checkpoints.
Physiotherapists: Provide modality treatments to hikers at checkpoints.
Trail Markers: Take sections of the trail and place trail markings just before the event.
Sweep Teams: Follow the last team on the trail, ensure walkers are safely clear of each section and clear the trail of all trail markings and garbage.
Trail Marshals: Give directions and information to participants on the trail. Encourage and cheer teams on as they pass.
